“Robert has restored many parts of our antique furniture and I have always been delighted with the results, some of which having required highly professional work.
After your phone call he will come to examine the item, give you a price, take it away then bring it back in a perfect condition.
Robert is also a very pleasant and likeable person.”
Subject: RE: Cabinet lining – thanks so much
“Dear Robert,
Thank you so much for delivering the corner cabinet today, it looks splendid.
Robert was recommended to us in 2014 by a friend in the “antiques world” when we inherited a number of pieces of antique furniture from relatives who had downsized. All the furniture needed renovation, and Robert has brought new life to a dining room table (badly stained), a sideboard (badly scratched), lowboys, chests of drawers and a corner cabinet which he also relined with appropriate fabric. We have been delighted with the results of his work. Not only did he refurbish the furniture but he took immense trouble to find matching handles where they were missing and fitting them. Most helpful in his attitude, he does what he says he will in good time; he is utterly trustworthy. He has been a real “find” for us and we have no hesitation in recommending him and his work. Will be in touch for the next thing, no doubt.
All the very best,
Cheers,
Evelyn
PS. Please keep your eyes peeled for a kidney shaped dressing table!!”

“Hi Rob, everything trundling along here, the grandfather clock is up and ticking!!
‘Robert has carried out woodwork and upholstery restoration on a number of items, including a badly damaged and butchered Georgian grandfather clock. His standard of workmanship is excellent and he is a craftsman that I can confidently recommend to others’
I could go on!

“Robert,
‘Robert Hinkley joined Peter Jones, antiques department in Sloane Square as a furniture restorer in 1997, to which he brought his skills of careful and sympathetic restoration, graduating to become manager of the workshop where he raised the quality of work to the highest standards of conservation through his charm and determination. When Robert decided to set up his own workshop I continued to send him work which is always completed to a high standard and promptly delivered in person to your home. Robert is my first recommendation to friends looking for sympathetic furniture restoration.

By the way, when you are around Chiswick I have a sabre leg dining chair which is starting to work loose again.
They always do in time!
Best wishes,
Jeremy Bate”
